I haven't been blogging.

Or tweeting.

And I haven't even been instagramming (gasp).

I know, I know. What has my world come to?

Truth be told, I've been exhausted. I had flu-like symptoms piling up over the last week that finally reached the off to the Doctor I go status.

Sure enough, the verdict was a lovely case of a virus.

And guys, I wish that the flu was the only source of my exhaustion. But truth be told, it's not.

I stumbled this week, guys.

One too many things piled up and lead to me getting overwhelmed. And I thought God was where I run to when I'm overwhelmed, but this week showed me that that's not always the case.

This week showed me that I have some deeply ingrained habits, places where I'm still fighting on my own two feet and not letting God in.

And so, this week has been exhausting. Overwhelming. Tiring.

I looked at myself and said I can't do this anymore. This fight. It's too much.

Because the Christian walk isn't just a walk. It's a fight. It's fighting for what's right in a world that glorifies what's wrong.

And this week, that fight was too much for me. This week, I wanted to take the easy route.

Heck, this week, I did take the easy route. And I thought to myself, I just can't do this anymore.

But right as those words came into my mind, I picked up my journal.

I wrote it down: I can't do this anymore.

And the next word I wrote down: LIE.

Truth:

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. (Phil 4:13)

And that's about all I've got for today.

  1. You can do this girl! There are definitley always going to be some bad days, but those are the days we need Christ most. Those are the days we resolidify why we are Christians. They remind us why we need God and what he can do for us! I will be praying for you love. I'm always here if you need anything:)

  3. Love this girl! So true...it is a fight! Someone told me something once, and I don't even remember who it was but I loved what they said... to be a Christian it means being comfortable with being uncomfortable. It's so true! Hope things will be getting easier for you!

  4. "Because the Christian walk isn't just a walk. It's a fight. It's fighting for what's right in a world that glorifies what's wrong" Girl, I have never read words more true. It is a hard, long fight but Jesus is worth it. He will always be worth it. We all fall sometimes and get overwhelmed, and it's okay to do that! It happens to the best of us. And it's what makes going back to God so sweet. Praying for you so much love!

  5. I literally wrote a post very similar to this recently. Why is it so hard to actually lean on God during those times?!

  6. Some times the best things in life are breaks from all the social media crap-o-la we drown ourselves in on a daily basis. I seriously doubt God is smiling at all my wasted time on FB :( We gotta find the balance.

I hope you start to feel better!

  10. Love you vulnerability and honest here Amy! Something God has been speaking to me about recently is our nature of keeping things in and "dealing wit them ourselves" I think He wants us to share and work together to get through this thing called life.

  16. Praying for healing for your body and for your soul tonight, Amy!

Sometimes the fight is really hard and the lies seem so real. BUT you are a daughter of the Most High God and He is the only one capable of bringing joy and contentment to you. (This comes from a girl who thinks iced coffee, a bubble bath and netflix marathons make everything better. Why do I settle for anything less than the presence of God?!)

Love you girl! Tomorrow will be better.

  18. Everyone has hard weeks ... do not beat yourself up about it. I think we all have moments where we think we cannot go on. One of my favorite quotes that I say to myself often:

"No smile is as beautiful as the one that struggles through the tears."

Have faith girl, you are stronger then you believe yourself to be!
